Modernity & Postmodernity – Griffith University, Griffith College

This course situates design in an enlightenment history of ideas and within the crisis of reason that underpinned the arrival of postmodernity while ex¬ploring how non-Western cultures constituted and engaged the idea of the modern from the perspective of a critical, culturally comparative history. Students will acquire a very clear distinction between the concepts and historical figures of the modern, modernity, and modernism and the relationship to design.
